I am doing landscaping on my property, what are the exterior lighting Regulations?

Ordinance 151.031 Exterior Lighting states that all lighting must be arranged so it does not interfere with the reasonable use and enjoyment of surrounding land, and designed and directed so that there is no direct viewing angle of the illumination source from surrounding land to avoid light spilling onto adjacent properties.   These requirements can be met by selecting lights with downshielding, reducing wattage of bulbs, using landscaping to shield lighting from neighboring properties, etc. Please be considerate of neighbors and our "dark sky community" and turn off excess exterior lighting during overnight hours when not in use.

Refer to Ordinance 151.031 Exterior Lighting, and 150.060 Miscellaneous Requirements regarding pool lighting under the Land use ordinances.

Note: Exterior landscaping and lighting must be submitted for approval by the North Oaks Homeowners association at nohoa@nohoa.org or 651-792-7765.
